Find a Primary Care Physician

All HUGHP members must select a primary care physician (PCP). A PCP is trained to prevent, diagnose, and treat a broad array of illnesses and injuries in the general population. If you need a specialist, your PCP can refer you to one—and give your specialist background about your condition and any previous treatment you may have had.

Search for an Atrius PCP

Before an appointment, make sure you:

  1. Select an in-network primary care provider at HUHS or Atrius Health. You and your family can choose primary care providers at different locations if you desire.
  2. Call the provider's office to register as a new patient.
  3. Notify HUGHP Member Services of your selection prior to your appointment (if you select an HUHS PCP, Member Services will notify the HUHS PCP office of your selection automatically).

Without a PCP on file, your claims may not be processed, and you may be billed directly for your care.

HMO members must select a PCP at a participating HUGHP network location.

POS and POS Plus members

  • For in-network care, members must select a PCP at a participating HUGHP network location (HUHS or Atrius Health).
  • POS and POS Plus members can also select an out-of-network primary care physician or pediatrician, but will have higher out-of-pocket costs.
