Travel Coverage

If you are traveling outside of the United States and you need emergency medical or urgent care go to the nearest appropriate facility. You may need to pay for services up front and file for reimbursement later. You should obtain itemized receipts and your medical records at the time of your discharge for any care you receive.

Find a Doctor within the United States

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts can help you find a health care provider. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling 800-810-BLUE or 804-673-1177 (collect if outside the U.S.). When you call, please remember to have your ID card ready. When traveling within the United States, be sure to let the representative know that you are looking for health care providers that participate with the local Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield Plan. You may also search for providers online using the Blue Finder.

Harvard Global Support Services outside of the United States

The University offers 24/7 medical, mental health, and security support and evacuations services through International SOS. While abroad, you can call +1-617-998-0000 for 24-hour access to physicians who can provide emergency and routine advice and referrals to vetted providers and hospitals. Evacuation and Repatriation

Harvard University Group Health Plan does not cover evacuation or repatriation; however, the University offers evacuation and repatriation services through its International SOS membership.
